In-service welding support to CSA Z662, API 1104 Annex B, etc.

ProForma Engineering develops in-service welding procedures for welding on live lines.  This includes:

  • Sleeve type welding, typically for installation of hot-tapping tees
  • Branch welding
  • Applications including thin-wall applications (<1/4”), as low as 0.100”
  • PQR, WPS & WPQ development, documentation and supervision of qualification
In service or on line welding code compliance with CSA Z662 which is the Canadian set of rules for all things governing cross jurisdictional pipeline Maintanence and construction.  We also have developed procedures to API 1104 which is the American Petroleum institute practice for welding on in service equipment.  In the USA these things are regulated by CFR 49 section xxx and xxx.

On line or in service welding is defined as welding on equipment while it is under pressure or as prudent is flowing. This is done in industry to allow repairs or to allow installation of nozzles or branches for expansions or bypasses on large construction projects.
